Full Tilt Poker.net sponsors its own TV show on NBC called Poker After Dark. The show is filmed in Las Vegas and each week has a one table poker tournament with different players every week. The poker show is broadcast at 2:05 am and has $120,000 in prize money at stake
Each player on the show buys-in for $20,000 and it is a winner take all event. The show is hosted by Shana Hiatt, who was the past World Poker Tour (WPT) host. She interviews each player after they are elimianted and also talks a bit during the show to guest poker players that happen to stroll in during the show. A usual suspect that drops by the show is Mike Matusow who usually takes a seat on the coach and gives his input on the game.
It is an interesting poker show because it shows every hand that is dealt. This is unique because most televised poker tv programs only show a small number of hands played. So when you watch the WPT or the WSOP you are only seeing around 5% of the hands. This makes the poker game at Poker After Dark seem slower then watching another poker show but also feels more authentic because it gives viewers insight on how professionals actually play poker.
It shows the less glamours side of poker with players looking tired and waiting for their hand as their chip stack dwindles away slowly. It also shows the gossip and side conversations that are always going on during a poker game.
